QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED 

Essential :

  • A degree level qualification in Economics, Trade, Business, Finance or a related area.
  • Strong leadership, management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and monitor programmes, events and projects.
  • Knowledge of international trade and quality standards, regulations and agreements.
  • Strong policy formulation and implementation skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the preparation of technical reports and presentations.

Desirable :

  • A postgraduate degree in social sciences, inclusive of trade/trade law or business administration will be an asset 
  • At least five years’ experience at a management level (equivalent of R22-16), and a good understanding of trade and business practices.
  • Strong oral reporting and presentation skills to select and public audiences
  • Industry contacts in key markets such as the US, UK and Caribbean. 
  • Experience in managing relationships with international partners, investors and donors.
  • Experience in private sector development, and / or investment promotion.
  • Ability to supervise, provide feedback, support and develop a team and staff.

The Goal of this Project is to Reduce the Public Health Impact of Pandemics in the Caribbean through Prevention, Preparedness, and Response. SUPERANNUATION

An officer appointed to this post will be required to participate in the Secretariat’s Defined Contribution Pension Plan and contribute 7 per cent of basic salary per month, while the Secretariat will contribute 13 percent of the officer’s basic salary to the pension plan. Where the appointment is on secondment, the Secretariat will pay to the officer’s substantive employer, over the period of secondment, a contribution not exceeding twenty-five per cent (25%) of the pensionable salary normally payable to the officer by that employer so as to maintain the pensionable status of the officer in the substantive employment.
