Description

The OECS 2025-2035 Common Sustainable Tourism Policy is a strategic regional framework developed by the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to guide sustainable tourism across its Member States. Built around a transformative development agenda, the policy aims to enhance economic growth, regional integration, and climate resilience through tourism that is sustainable, inclusive, innovative, and resilient.

- Vision & Mission: The vision promotes sustainable and inclusive tourism as a driver of regional economic development. The mission is to create added value for Member States through collaborative tourism strategies.

- Guiding Principles: The policy is underpinned by 12 principles, including sustainability, climate-smart action, risk resilience, inclusion, innovation, public-private partnerships, and systematic monitoring and evaluation.

- Implementation & Monitoring: Success depends on ongoing stakeholder engagement, evidence-based strategies, and integration with national tourism frameworks. The policy also aligns with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports initiatives such as community-based tourism, MSME development, and blue economy strategies.

- Development Process: The policy was shaped through broad consultations with over 500 stakeholders across 10 Member States and regional organizations, with support from the World Bank under the Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) project.
